Magic man set to baffle big crowd

IF you have ever wanted to know how magicians baffle crowds of people, getting to this

Sunday's Bulimba Camivale may be your best chance.

A magician of nearly 40 years, "The Amazing Danton" (aka Joe Lewis, pictured on the front page) will be

performing on the day.

The magician said if crowds thought the answers to his tricks were up his brightly coloured sleeves -guess again.

"People always think it must be up the sleeve," he said. "But not any more, we don't have big enough sleeves."

The Amazing Danton performs illusions with cards, a handkerchief, balloons as well as tricks

No other magician in Australia will dare perform such as a rare performance of the Chinese Linking Rings.

With the magic tricks performed under a shroud of secrecy,

The Amazing Danton said many audience members believed if they got close enough they may just figure it all out.

"I'm the only magician in Australia who will perform tricks with the Chinese Linking Rings close up to people,"

he said.

"I'll be there walking around with them getting people to touch them,

Others will do it up on stage but they're not game to do it close up to people."

He said of the 32 tricks he would perform, another crowd favourite was one where he swallowed balloons.

"I can swallow the long balloons that you can make animals out of," he said. "It's a startling trick, people come up to

me and say

"how did you do that?', 'where did it go?' and I just tell them 'it's gone, I swallowed it!'"

You can witness The Amazing Danton at the Bulimba Camivale from 9.30am to 1.30pm.
